The idea behind the title of the piece is not actually related to the ricercar as a genre or type of instrumental composition, but rather to its initial etymology, which comes from the Italian word “ricercare” meaning “to seek again” or “to seek out.” The piece consists of different parts within the tags: pulse (representing the initial, primal sound impulse), vision in toad (a metaphor for the perception of live organisms), barking (a mode of deep fear), rectangle (representing the binary code system), short film (integrated into the composition, connected with the topic of synesthesia), zeroing (related to the topic of political identity, performed as a ritual), and the rabbit hole (a metaphor for an endless way out).
